Words of Wisdom

St Isaac the Syrian syrian“Above all, love silence…”

Let us love silence till the world is made to die in our hearts.

Thirst after Jesus and He will satisfy you with His love.

The joy that is in God is stronger than this present life..Love is sweeter than life. And the concord with God from which love is born is sweeter than honey and the honey comb. It does not seem grievous to Love to undergo a bitter death for the sake of he beloved… And to the heart which has received this joy every sweetness of this world seems superfluous. for there is nothing which can be likened to sweetness of the knowledge of God.”

Let yourself be persecuted, but do not persecute others.
Be crucified, but do not crucify others.Be slandered, but do not slander others.
Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep: such is the sign of purity.
Suffer with the sick.Be afflicted with sinners.
Exult with those who repent.
Be the friend of all, but in your spirit remain alone.
Be a partaker of the sufferings of all, but keep your body distant from all.
Rebuke no one, revile no one, not even those who live very wickedly.
Spread your cloak over those who fall into sin, each and every one, and shield them.
And if you cannot take the fault on yourself and accept punishment in their place,do not destroy their character.

O name of Jesus, key to all gifts, open up for me the great door to your treasure-house, that I may enter and praise you with the praise that comes from the heart

Love is sweeter than life. And the concord with God from which love is born is sweeter than honey and the honey comb. It does not seem grievous to Love to undergo a bitter death for the sake of he beloved… And to the heart which has received this joy every sweetness of this world seems superfluous. for there is nothing which can be likened to sweetness of the knowledge of God.

The mouth, which is continuously giving thanks, receives blessing from God. In the heart that always shows gratitude, grace abides.

isaacthesyrianSpread your cloak over the man who is falling and cover him.And if you cannot take upon yourself his sins and receive his chastisement in his stead, then at least patiently suffer his shame and do not disgrace him.

There is no other path to draw closer to Christ other than the path of sorrows.

The assembly of the humble is loved of God just as the assembly of the seraphim.
